The Arapapıştı Canyon
The stunning Arapapıştı Canyon is located at the intersection of Denizli, Aydın and Muğla provinces, which will take approximately 3-3 1/2 hours to reach from Didim.
This natural wonder is currently an archeological protected site, since opening to tourism in 2017 it has quickly become a “must-see” tourist hotspot, with history dating back over 2,500 years.
The canyon is 6km long, 380 meters high and 12 meters wide with so much beauty to see!
Discover the hidden monastery, the Körteke castle and settlement ruins of Çamlıdere village, experience the history of the 2500 year old Persian rock tombs and the Arch Bridge built during the Alexander the Great period!
The area is home to not only historical and cultural sites but also to much wildlife such as endangered grey herons, eagles, boar and wild goats which are often spotted by tourists.
While visiting the Arapapıştı Canyon you will take a 2 hour (approx.) boat trip along the river, giving spectacular picturesque views of the area.
The canyon is often considered as the 8th wonder of the world, an incredible place where history and nature entwine.
